Beeches Martial Arts: Our Story

September 11, 2024

Beeches Martial Arts started its journey in 1996, teaching judo and jujitsu to the local community in Northfield, by Shihan Paul Taylor. His father decided to get his five sons into martial arts to help galvanise and teach them self worth, confidence and self defence.

Empowering the Next Generation of Beeches Martial Arts Instructors

Over the years, some students expressed an interest in helping others, which led to the creation of a Junior Leader Award. This later developed into an Instructor Award, allowing these students to eventually start their own martial arts classes with the support and management of Beeches Martial Arts.

Spreading Beeches Martial Arts Classes Across Birmingham for Over 30 Years

For over 30 years, we’ve helped many students spread our system across Birmingham, continuing to support aspiring instructors in reaching their goals. These instructors are evaluated four times a year and provided with safeguarding, DBS checks, first aid training, and the necessary equipment.

Building Confidence and Life Skills Beyond at the Dojo & Beyond

Above all, our mission is to give young children a positive childhood experience, with strong role models and life skills that extend beyond the dojo. We organise competitions, camps, and courses for everyone, and our membership spans across Birmingham, giving students access to all our martial arts classes, clubs and disciplines.
